Royal Wedding Fun Facts:

At 29-years-old, Kate Middleton will be one of the oldest royal brides to walk down the aisle.

Queen Elizabeth II apparently sent out save-the-date invitations via fax machine.

Kate Middleton has asked to be called Catherine, not Kate.

According to royal tradition, the Queen must be the last person to enter the cathedral. It's best to not show up to the wedding if you know you are going to be late.

Prince William is reported to have invited to the wedding members of the homeless population who made a difference in his life.

About 40 foreign royals have been invited to the nuptials including the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, the sultan of Brunei, the emperor of Japan, and kings of Malaysia, Tonga and Thailand.

There's been some talk that Prince William and Middleton will be the first royal couple to sign a prenuptial agreement.

More Royal Wedding Fun Facts:

Male guests with a military record have been asked to don their armed-forces dress uniform.

Middleton's flower bouquet will be keeping up a tradition that dates back to the 19th century and the wedding of Queen Victoria. She will include a sprig of myrtle from that tree that still grows in Victoria's personal garden. After the ceremony, the myrtle sprig is planted in the bride's garden by her bridesmaids.

Some 650 guests dined on quail eggs, beet root, and cake at Queen Elizabeth's Buckingham Palace residence for a reception following the wedding.

Twenty-one chefs, led by royal chef Mark Flanagan, prepared the lunch using produce with only British-based ingredients.

A Message from the President
Steve

If the saying "April showers bring May flowers" is true, then we should soon be tripping over meadows of flowers! We have been getting plenty of rain with very few days of warmth and sunshine in between. This is not much to gripe about, though; our thoughts go out to other parts of the country who have suffered much worse weather than here in Michigan. Fortunately, we were blessed with a sunny Easter weekend and temps in the 60's. To celebrate, National had their annual Easter Egg Hunt. It was huge a success!

As April comes to a close and we enter into May our days are busy with summer coverage needs. If you think you might need coverage this summer, make sure you connect with National today! Check out our HOT JOB ALERT section of our newsletter and see if there is something for you or maybe an assignment your colleague would be interested in. Our referral program is still going on so inquire today for more information!

In this month's newsletter you will read about Jill Binder and Courtney Lozen's trip to the 2011 Spring MANA Meeting. National is also very excited to announce that we are now on Facebook. MANA 2011 Spring Conference

Jill Binder and Courtney Lozen had the pleasure of attending and exhibiting at the 2011 Michigan Association of Nurse Anesthetists Spring Conference on April 8th and 9th. The conference was held at the beautiful Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, MI. Despite the dreary weather outside, the atmosphere inside was warm and lively! It's always fun to say hi to our old friends, there was a large crowd of CRNAs and SRNAs who we enjoyed visiting with and talking to about locum and permanent job opportunities. As is customary, we held a raffle and this year we went with the beach theme in hopes of inspiring some warm weather! Sheryl May, CRNA was the recipient of a Tommy Bahama beach chair, beach umbrella, towel and a cooler full of Corona! We hope that she is able to enjoy many days relaxing by the water's edge! Thank you to the association and all of the CRNAs and SRNAs who stopped by. We look forward to working with all of you!

National Joins Kids Against Hunger

Hard times are hard enough without having to worry about feeding your family. It's for this reason that the team at National is joining the Kids Against Hunger Coalition and the Avondale School District on May 21st to pack boxes of high nutrition meals headed for children in Haiti as well as the local Baldwin Soup Kitchen in Pontiac, MI.

This event requires not only people to put in the time and pack up the boxes, but the $25,000.00 it will cost to ship the meals to their destination. In order to help the organization reach their monetary goal National employees are paying for the comfort that so many people take for granted - wearing jeans to work! The cost for dressing down is $5 per employee and the total amount raised will be matched by the company then donated to the cause.

For more information on Kids Against Hunger Coalition please visit http://www.kidsagainsthungercoalition.com/ where you can view information about the organization's mission and recent efforts. Also, to learn more about the Baldwin Soup Kitchen, which serves over 60,000 meals annually, please visit http://baldwincenter.org/blog/?page_id=3.
